About us
Central Church is located in the heart of Derry, NH, a town of about 25.000 just south of Manchester New Hampshire. Derry is the 6th largest city in New Hampshire, situated right next to Pinkerton Academy, one of the largest and most respected High Schools in the state. Central is an historic church, built in 1837 with a rich history of 24 pastors over its 177 year history. 1972 marked a distinct shift back toward biblical Evangelicalism and Biblical Congregationalism. The last 40s reflect this biblical emphasis with ebbs and flows of renewal and revival which continue to this day.
We welcome you with no strings attached. No matter who you are, we welcome you with the acceptance, love, and forgiveness that we have experienced in Jesus. At Central, you have an opportunity to find new friends and to grow and be challenged spiritually.
Central Church shifted from the NACCC (National Association of Christian Churches) to the CCCC (Congregational Christian Conference) in 2011, reflecting a desire to be affiliated with a Bible believing fellowship and biblical statement of faith. The current emphasis is to become a Disciple-making church. Following Vision New England’s and CCCC’s Biblical Discipleship emphasis, the core values of Central are: Love God, Love Others, Make Disciples.
Approximately 120 people call Central their home church and Sunday attendance averages about 75. It is a Congregational style church polity with Pastor and Elders, Deacons, Deaconesses and Trustees forming the leadership body call the SLT (Spiritual Leadership Team). There are also Ministry teams lead by part-time staff and volunteers.
Central is founded on the historic evangelical truths of salvation and hope through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord. Our statement of faith is based solely on the Holy Scriptures, the Inspired Word of God. Our faith and values place us in the historic stream of Biblical Christianity without being rigid to a particular system of interpretation of the Bible
